AUCTION TRADITION AT ITS BEST!

Auctioneers, Argle Cole and Farrell Cole.

My dad was the founder of Cole’s Auctions, over 50 years ago. I always wanted to be an Auctioneer, but when it really came down to it, I was too bashful. When I was in my early 20’s, dad got something in his eye – He told me I had to help him auction that Saturday because the sale was already set up. You talk about big drops of sweat on my forehead, and I was very, very nervous; but that was my start. That’s been lots of years ago.

I never went to Auction School, but dad was a very good teacher. Later I did get tapes from Leroy VanDyke, which was very helpful on my chant. I pride myself in working hard to get the sellers the best price possible, regardless of the size of the auction. At the same time, I try to make sure the buyers have a good time and enjoy their day at the auction. We have a good crowd that comes to have fun.

Time has changed a lot from when dad started back then. Dad, Loray and myself were the crew. Dad was happy if we got one auction a month. Now we have nine people that work for us, and we have 50-70 auctions per year, plus our real estate auctions. Our real estate company has been very good and helpful to our new way of life. My wife, Sharon, is the only reason I can do all the work—she makes sure the details get taken care of.

I still love to work with my cattle, and I put all my off-time on the farm. I love my work and like to help people. God has blessed me with good health and a wonderful family and friends, and a way to work that I enjoy.
